Is It Ableism? Part 1: Revisiting the Dark Ages

This is a very complex, nuanced question that cannot be answered in just a few sentences and declarations. This is why I'm writing a series of blog posts on the issue. As for my dad, he's never had particularly good episodic memory, and when I told him he had told the story a few times before, he had no idea what I was talking about.
Yes, it is ableism

and, no, it doesn't make you 'better' than people who can't live independently.
A shame your dad bought into that overcoming narrative.
